What guided mode looks like in practice.
Guided mode is the default for every educator tutor, and students have no setting that turns it off. Being precise about what that is: it is a behavioral rule the tutor follows, and your own course policy is the only thing that can loosen it. The hard wall in Encephlo sits around your answer keys, and that one runs in code rather than in an instruction the tutor could be talked out of. How both work.

Guides, never solves
Educator tutors run guided-by-default: they ask the next question, probe reasoning, and refuse to simply produce the assignment. Students can't switch that off.

Your answer key teaches without leaking
A student can never retrieve a material you mark as an answer key: that block lives in the retrieval code, not in a prompt someone can talk around. The tutor does read your key, so it works your method instead of inventing one, and every response is scanned server-side before it is sent. Anything that appears only in the key and nowhere the student can already look is blocked from the outgoing text.
Know what your class is confused about before the exam does
Your dashboard shows what the class is asking and where it is stuck, plus a line per student: how much they used the tutor, a short summary of what they worked on, and a flag when someone looks like they need help. What you never see is any student's raw conversation, and that is enforced in the database rules, not by policy. Every week a short email digest brings the top topics and sticking points to you.
